Giedrė Mockeliūnaitė — Art Junction: Venice Edition

In early September, during the Venice Film Festival, Palazzo Smith Mangilli Valmarana became the setting for Art Junction: Venice Edition — a two-day multisensory exhibition by Lithuanian artist Giedrė Mockeliūnaitė.

Across five rooms, Mockeliūnaitė created an environment where painting, sound, and space merged into one emotional choreography. Her large-scale canvases — layered, instinctive, and rhythmically charged — became extensions of movement and breath. Light shifted across textured surfaces, echoing the artist’s background in theatre and dance, where gesture carries meaning beyond words.

The opening unfolded as an intimate gathering of artists, collectors, and curators from across Europe. Guests moved slowly through the palazzo, guided by changing tones of sound and color. The atmosphere was immersive yet weightless — suspended between performance and stillness, between dream and material.

Over days, Art Junction: Venice Edition became less an exhibition and more a living state — a space where painting was not something to observe, but something to inhabit. It marked a pivotal moment in Mockeliūnaitė’s ongoing exploration of sensory art: the union of body, image, and emotion within architecture and light.
